Singing Stones
In the Namibian desert we climbed a small hill where at the top rising just above the sand were a strata of rocks. Many small pieces had broken away from the main rock in the course of time, when you hit these rocks they rang like a bell. Each piece had its own particular ring usually dependant on size and the iron content in the rocks that make it metallic. By hitting several in succession you could create a song.
